Campaigns
How campaigns work on On The Record - one campaign per recipient, with its own theme, price, and rules.
A campaign on On The Record is a curated space for letters addressed to a specific recipient. Dear Stacks is a campaign. Dear Bitcoin is a campaign. Future campaigns might be addressed to a city council, a research foundation, a corporation, anyone.
A campaign can live inside the multi-campaign hub alongside every other campaign, or single-campaign mode can project it as its own branded, standalone-looking app. That projection is the mechanism the rest of this page describes; Dear Stacks and Dear Bitcoin are the illustrative examples of it.
What a campaign defines
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Recipient address | Where edition #1 of every letter is automatically minted |
| Fixed price | What co-signers pay to sign (uniform across the campaign) |
| Visual style | The template every letter in the campaign renders through |
| Branding | Site name, hero copy, color palette when the campaign has a dedicated surface |
| Allowed entity types | Always "page" for open letters; reserved for future expansion |
These settings live on a Rising Tide Collection. The collection slug is the campaign id - otr-dear-stacks, otr-dear-bitcoin, etc.

Browsing campaigns
On the multi-campaign hub, the homepage shows every letter across every campaign. Campaign filter pills let you scope to just one campaign without leaving the page. Each letter card carries a small chip indicating which campaign it belongs to.
In a single-campaign app like Dear Stacks, there are no filter pills - everything you see is already in scope. The header carries the campaign's branding, not the platform brand. Same platform, projected as one campaign's own app.
Switching campaigns
Authors choose a campaign when they write. On the hub, the write page presents a campaign picker (or accepts ?campaign=<slug> in the URL to skip the picker). In a single-campaign app, the campaign is pre-selected.
The choice is permanent once published - a letter belongs to the campaign whose recipient and rules it was written under.
Per-campaign pricing and splits
OTR uses fixed pricing and fixed splits per campaign, unlike Grammata which gives authors a customizable picker. This keeps the surface simple for co-signers - every letter in a campaign costs the same, and the split is always 50% to the author, 50% to the style artist (no manual configuration).
The campaign recipient still gets edition #1 automatically at no charge - that is the campaign sponsor, not a paid co-signer.
