Signing

Co-signing a letter on On The Record - the sentiment rating, the note, and what your signature carries.

Signing a letter on OTR is more than appending your name. Every signature carries a sentiment rating and an optional note, so the organizer sees not just how many people signed but how strongly they felt and what they said.

What you provide

FieldLimitRequired
Rating1 to 10Yes
Note128 charactersOptional

The rating is your strength of agreement. 1 = "I see this, I am here, I am the lightest possible signal." 10 = "I am behind every word of this."

The note is your own words alongside the letter you are co-signing. It is public, attached to your numbered edition.

organizer sees your rating + note

Your numbered edition lives in your collection forever. It is yours - transferable, on-chain. The letter's sentiment view updates with your rating and note immediately.

Why the rating matters

A letter with 500 signatures averaging 6.2 says something different from a letter with 500 signatures averaging 9.4. The organizer can read the distribution - not just "people signed" but "here is the heat of the room." Soft signers and strong signers are both heard, and the difference is visible.

The note

If you choose to write a note, it appears on your edition and aggregates into the letter's public sentiment view. Notes are the long tail - the personal reasons behind the rating. They are not threaded conversations; OTR is not a discussion platform.

What you pay

The campaign sets the price. Co-signing is one fixed price across the campaign. The amount goes through the standard protocol split - 50% to the author, 50% to the style artist. There is no platform skim.

Privacy

Your wallet address is on-chain, so anyone can see that the wallet at SP2A...F4K3 signed the letter with a 7 and the note "yes". If you have linked your wallet to a name on Rising Tide, that name appears too. If you have not, just the address.
